The latest data from the General Administration of Customs shows that in May 2026, China exported 630,000 tons of unprocessed aluminum and aluminum products, an increase of 15.6% year-on-year; for the first five months, the cumulative export volume was 2.69 million tons, an increase of 10.4% year-on-year.
In May, China exported 280,000 tons of alumina, an increase of 36.4% year-on-year; for the first five months, a total of 1.34 million tons were exported, representing a year-on-year growth of 14.7%.
In May, China imported 300,000 tons of unprocessed aluminum and aluminum products, a decrease of 15.6% compared to the previous year; for the entire period from January to May, a total of 1.62 million tons were imported, a decrease of 2.9% compared to the previous year.
In May, China imported 23.03 million tons of aluminum ore and its concentrates, an increase of 31.9% year-on-year; from January to May, a total of 100.69 million tons of aluminum ore and its concentrates were imported, representing a year-on-year growth of 18.5%.
