The Bahrain News Agency reported that Alba, the Bahrain Aluminium Company, confirmed on Sunday (the 29th) that its facilities had been attacked by the Iranian side the previous day.
Alba Company stated that the attack resulted in two people suffering minor injuries, and added that the company is currently assessing the damage to the facilities.
Previously, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps had claimed that in retaliation for the attacks on two Iranian steel plants, they had designated Alba Company and the United Arab Emirates Global Aluminum Company (EGA) as targets for strikes, as these two companies were associated with the US military and aerospace enterprises.
As early as in early March, Alba Company had already initiated the shutdown procedures for three aluminum smelting production lines, which accounted for 19% of its total production capacity. Prior to this, on March 4th, the company had announced that it had encountered "force majeure" due to the closure of the Hormuz Strait, which prevented it from delivering metal products to its customers.
This production halt is the latest blow suffered by the aluminium division of the Middle East Aluminium Company; the region's aluminium output accounts for approximately 9% of the global supply. The root cause of this situation lies in the military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran.
It is reported that the parent company of Bahrain Steel, Foulath Holding of Bahrain, announced on Saturday that its operational business has been affected by "force majeure" due to regional conflicts and "the resulting disruptions in security and logistics". The company stated that the situation in the region has "created an objective environment beyond the control of the group and has impacted the operations and logistics of some of the group's business areas"; however, the company did not provide detailed data on the specific scale of this impact.
