Al-UAE Global Aluminium (EGA) was attacked by missiles and drones, and suffered severe damage.

March 31, 2026
EGA (United Arab Emirates Global Aluminium Company) issued a statement on Saturday, saying that its Al Taweelah production base located in the UAE suffered "severe damage" after being attacked by Iranian missiles and drones.

The company stated in its announcement that during the attack on the Khalifa Economic Zone in Abu Dhabi, several EGA employees were injured, but all the injured were in stable condition and not in critical condition.

The Gulf region is one of the major aluminum production bases in the world, with its output accounting for approximately 9% of the global supply. Since the conflict between the United States and Israel over Iran broke out, due to the fact that the Strait of Hormuz has actually been closed, most aluminum producers in this region have been unable to transport their metal products to the international market through conventional channels.

The statement indicates that the Al Taweelah aluminum smelter under EGA achieved a casting aluminum production of 1.6 million tons in 2025. Additionally, the company also has an adjacent alumina refining plant at the Al Taweelah site; last year, this refining plant produced 2.4 million tons of alumina as raw material for aluminum production.

EGA also has a smelting plant in Jebel Ali, in the Emirate of Dubai. The company stated that at the time of the conflict, its metal inventories in transit by sea were abundant, and there were also spot stocks in some overseas regions. Earlier this month, it was reported that the company would adjust the transportation routes for aluminum exports and raw material imports, and instead use the Sohar port in Oman for transshipment.
