Yuefeng Aluminum Co., Ltd. has achieved dual certification under the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard V3.1 (2023) and Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2 (2022). The certification scope covers the production of aluminum alloy profiles for construction and industrial applications, as well as related management activities, at the company's facility in Jiangsu Province, China.
The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) announced on July 22 that Yuefeng Aluminum Co., Ltd. has obtained certification against the ASI Performance Standard V3.1 and Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2. The production facility utilizes casting and extrusion processes to manufacture aluminum profiles; its products are widely used in sectors such as construction, electronics, machinery, rail transportation, aerospace, and shipbuilding. The plant is equipped with 12 casting units and 37 extrusion presses, with a projected aluminum profile output of approximately 220,000 tonnes for 2025.
The ASI certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and stands as the only comprehensive, voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminum value chain. Following a multi-year revision process, the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) was launched in May 2022. It defines 11 principles and 62 criteria across the three sustainability pillars—environmental, social, and governance—aiming to address pressing sustainability issues within the aluminum value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples' rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions. In 2023, the standards were updated to Performance Standard V3.1 (2023) and Chain of Custody Standard V2.1 (2023) following minor refinements, primarily involving editorial adjustments, error corrections, and content clarifications.
The ASI CoC Standard V2 outlines requirements for establishing a chain of custody for materials produced and processed along the value chain for various downstream sectors. Implementation of the ASI CoC Standard links verified practices (certified against the ASI Performance Standard) across successive stages of the supply chain with products manufactured by ASI-certified entities. The CoC Standard also confirms the establishment of appropriate policies and due diligence processes to identify and address key issues—such as corruption, human rights violations, and materials sourced from conflict-affected and high-risk areas—and to support responsible sourcing.
The independent third-party audit of Yuefeng Aluminum Co., Ltd. was conducted by the CQM Certification Group. Page 5 of the audit summary report provides a complete list of audit findings, outlining the evidence for areas of conformance and minor non-conformances. This performance standard audit recorded seven minor non-conformances regarding the following clauses: 2.7a–f (Emergency Response Plan), 3.1a–b (Sustainability Reporting), 4.1a (Environmental Life Cycle Assessment), 4.4d (Post-consumer Product Recovery and Recycling), 5.1a–b (Disclosure of GHG Emissions and Energy Use), 5.3a (GHG Emissions Reduction Plan), and 9.2a–e (Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment). Yuefeng Aluminum Co., Ltd. will implement a corrective action plan during the certification validity period, and the implementation of these measures will be verified during subsequent surveillance audits. No non-conformances were identified during the ASI Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard certification audit.
