June 2, 2026
US President Trump signed a notice on Monday to revise the national security tariffs under Section 232 for certain imported steel and copper products.
The tariffs on some steel and aluminum products have been reduced from 25% to 15%, including certain agricultural machinery and residential heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment; for imported mobile industrial equipment, such as bulldozers and forklifts, from countries that are in line with relevant preferential trade agreements, a 15% tariff is imposed.
The adjustment will come into effect at midnight on June 8th for imported goods or those extracted from bonded warehouses, and will remain in effect until December 31st, 2027. Its aim is to stimulate investment and rebuild the industrial foundation of the United States.
