Products that are entirely or almost entirely made of aluminium, steel or copper (such as steel coils and aluminium sheets) will be subject to a 50% tariff based on their full value.
2. Derivative products made of steel, aluminium or copper will be subject to a 25% tariff on their full value.
3. Certain metal-intensive industrial equipment and power grid equipment will enjoy a 15% tariff rate before 2027.
4. Products manufactured abroad but using entirely American-produced steel, aluminum and copper will be subject to a lower tariff rate of 10%.
5. Products with a steel, aluminum or copper content of less than 15% will no longer be subject to the metal tariffs stipulated in Section 232.
Note: In June 2025, Trump raised the tariff rates on steel and aluminum to 50%.
In July 2025, Trump included copper in the 232 tariff plan, with the same tax rate as that for steel and aluminum.
