As the conflicts in the Middle East intensified, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz severely affected global aluminum supply. The proportion of Russian aluminum inventory at the London Metal Exchange (LME) soared to 92% in March, significantly higher than the 60% in February.
LME data sales: The available aluminum inventory in March dropped significantly to its lowest level since May 2025. However, in early April, nearly 90,000 tons of aluminum were re-registered as warehouse receipts, easing the supply shortage situation.
On a global scale, the proportion of Indian aluminum in the LME registered warehouses dropped sharply from 36% in February to 7% in March.
In March, the total amount of Russian aluminum inventory on the LME decreased by 4,225 tons, dropping to 247,475 tons.
