On February 23, 2026, the Argentine Ministry of Economy issued Announcement No. 172 of 2026, making a negative final ruling on the sunset and situation change review of the anti-dumping measures against aluminum foils originally produced in China (Spanish: Hojas de aluminio, sin soporte, simplemente laminadas, de espesor superior o igual a 0.006 mm pero inferior o igual a 0.2 mm y anchura inferior o igual a 1.300 mm, except for the smooth ones, with an aluminum content superior or equal to 99.2% by weight, of thickness inferior or equal to 6 micrometers, in coils with width inferior or equal to 500 mm, according to ASTM B 373-95). The anti-dumping measures for the involved products were terminated. The involved products were layer-pressed aluminum foils with a thickness ranging from 0.006 mm (inclusive) to 0.2 mm (inclusive), and a width not exceeding 1300 mm. However, smooth aluminum foils with an aluminum content greater than or equal to 99.2% (by weight), a thickness less than or equal to 6 micrometers, and a width less than or equal to 500 mm were excluded. The tariff code of the involved products in the Southern Common Market was 7607.11.90. The announcement came into effect on the date of its issuance.
On March 8, 2019, Argentina initiated an anti-dumping investigation into aluminum foil originating from China. On March 9, 2020, Argentina made a positive final ruling on this case, officially imposing an anti-dumping duty of 28% on the involved products based on the FOB price, with a validity period of five years. On February 21, 2025, Argentina initiated the first sunset review investigation on this case, as well as a review based on changes in circumstances.
